Alex Orange Drink & Conor Oberst – Queen Victoria

We are proud today to share our new video for Alex Orange Drink feat. Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) ‘Queen Victoria’.

Alex (The So So Glos) was essential on the creation of the latest Bright Eyes album. During that period he was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor and had to battle with the treatment on top of dealing with Homocystinuria his entire life (a inherited disorder of the metabolism, that makes drinking orange juice necessary).

He used that hard time to create new music, and fortunately is doing great now and is happy to share ‘Queen Victoria’ – a song about this grandmother who died from suicide when he was young – on Conor Oberst new record label, Million Stars.

Our video was centered around personal footage from Alex family videos (the Levine family) mixed with old NYC stock footage and bright animated cartoons.

Laurel Smith – pink gun

New music video for North London artist Laurel Smith ‘pink gun’, a 3D animation that takes place inside a club filled with zombies and with the song’s lyrics written all over the walls and ceilings.

Speaking on the track, Laurel explains:

I wrote ‘pink gun’ when I was holding in a lot of anger from my experiences as a woman throughout life. I have felt spoken over, belittled, not taken seriously, gaslit (and at times) unsafe, uncomfortable, and taken advantage of. ‘pink gun’ was my outlet and something that made me feel empowered so I hope it will do the same for my listeners.”

With VHS distortions and an animated mouth that represents Laurel’s voice we tried to illustrate the dark and grungy energy of the song and the empowering message of the lyrics.
